About

Based in Southport, Merseyside, Zenreikan Aikido is a martial arts club and part of the North West Aikikai, an organisation formed in December 2017 when the Merseyside Aikido Fellowship merged with several other Aikido clubs in the region. The school teaches traditional Aikido, and newcomers are welcomed and brought into the group quickly, with early gradings helping them settle in. Etiquette in the dojo (known as reigi) is an important part of training.

Aikido is generally practised as a non-competitive martial art that focuses on movement, timing and redirecting an opponent's energy. Many people also find it a holistic study, offering fitness, focus and a friendly training community alongside self-defence skills.
