IKIGAI KARATE LTD
About
Based in Caerphilly, Ikigai Karate is a martial arts club teaching traditional Japanese Shotokan karate alongside kobujutsu, the Okinawan art of traditional weapons. Running since 2007, the organisation also has schools in Bermondsey, London and in Cardiff, and welcomes students of all ages and backgrounds. Classes are split into age groups, including a Little Tigers programme for four to six year olds and junior classes for children aged six and over.
Karate training generally combines basic techniques, set forms (kata) and partner work, helping students build fitness, coordination and confidence. It is a discipline that suits complete beginners as well as those returning to martial arts, and many families find it a good shared activity.
