About

Judo has been taught in Newtownabbey by this martial arts club for more than 40 years. It began at the Valley Leisure Centre, originally under the name Valley Judo Club, and today offers both recreational and competitive judo in a friendly, family setting. Newcomers can learn at their own pace, while those keen to compete have a pathway to events across Ireland, Great Britain and further afield.

Judo is a grappling art built around throws, holds and controlled falling, and it suits people of many ages and abilities. Training generally develops balance, strength and confidence, and many clubs place equal weight on respect, discipline and personal growth alongside technique.
