Rhythmic gymnastics is the focus at this Oxford club, a sport that blends rhythm, expression and elegance. Oxford Rhythmic Gymnastics runs classes and places real emphasis on friendship and teamwork, and its gymnasts take part in national and international competitions, including events such as the British Championships and the Bath Open.

Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic discipline that generally combines dance, flexibility and handling of apparatus such as ribbons, hoops and balls. Training in the sport tends to help with coordination, posture and fine motor skills, and many young gymnasts find it a good way to build confidence while being part of a supportive group.

Based in Oxford, UKCF Academy is an indoor parkour park offering classes in parkour, freerunning, acrobatics and trampoline, alongside aerial silks and hoop. Its purpose-built facility describes itself as the first indoor parkour park in the city, and it caters for both young people and adults. A termly youth programme runs through the year, with free trial sessions available before each term.

Gymnastics-style movement classes like these are generally a good way to build strength, coordination, balance and confidence. Newcomers can usually expect a structured warm-up, coached progressions on new skills and plenty of time to practise in a safe, padded environment.
