Based in Shiney Row, Houghton le Spring, the Karen Shiel School of Dance has been teaching since 1998 and welcomes dancers from age three upwards. Classes cover a wide range of styles, including ballet, tap, modern, lyrical, acro and contemporary, with sessions grouped by age at the school's large studio.

A dance school like this is a good place for children to build confidence, make friends and develop their technique in a supportive setting. Alongside the graded classes, there are options such as vocational, musical theatre, show and competition classes, plus private lessons for those who want to go further.
