Roger Gracie Academy
About
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the focus at Roger Gracie Academy in Bedford, a martial arts club that belongs to the Roger Gracie Academy (RGA) affiliation. The network was set up by Roger Gracie, a ten-time BJJ world champion from the Gracie family, which is closely linked to the growth of the sport. The Bedford site is currently undergoing building renovations, with a sauna among the planned additions.
For anyone new to the sport, BJJ is a grappling art built around positional control, takedowns and submissions, usually practised with a partner on mats. Gyms of this kind generally offer a mix of technique work and live rolling, and many people take it up for fitness, confidence and self-defence.
