About

Based in Inverness, Highland Ki Society is a martial arts club practising Ki Aikido, also known as Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, or Aikido with mind and body unified, as developed by Koichi Tohei Sensei. The society runs two clubs in the Highland area and is a member of the Ki No Kenkyukai Musubi and the British Aikido Board, the UK governing body for Aikido.

Aikido is a partner-based practice focused on harmony and movement rather than competition. Sessions here typically open with exercises for health, including breathing, flexing and stretching, alongside exercises that develop the unification of mind and body used in Aikido.
