Taekwondo is a Korean martial art known for its fast, high kicks and emphasis on flexibility, balance and discipline. Classes at taekwondo clubs generally combine technique drills, patterns and partner work, with a coloured belt system to mark progress. Many people take it up for fitness and confidence as much as for self-defence, and it often suits a wide range of ages.
