About

Practising in Aberdeen, Saku-Mei Kan (also known as Aberdeen Aikido Club) is a martial arts club teaching Aikido, a Japanese art focused on self defence and personal development. Sessions run at the Inchgarth Community Centre, and the club is a member of the Scottish and Borders Birankai. Newcomers of any background are welcome, with classes ranging from beginner to advanced, including weapons training.

Aikido is a non-competitive art built around evasion, immobilisation and throws rather than physical strength, which makes it suitable for people of all ages, sizes and abilities. Beginners can generally expect to learn the fundamentals gradually in a structured environment.
